How to fill in each field

Service & frequency

State the service type and whether it's recurring (weekly/biweekly) or one-off.

Common mistake: Not noting frequency, so recurring clients can't reconcile repeat charges.

Add-ons

List extras (windows, carpets, oven) as their own lines so upsells are visible.

Common mistake: Bundling add-ons into the base rate and losing track of what was upsold.

Service address

Include the property address cleaned, especially for clients with multiple sites.

Common mistake: Omitting the address when a client has several properties.

Terms

Cleaners usually bill short terms (Net 7) or on the day; state it clearly.

Common mistake: Defaulting to Net 30 and waiting a month for small recurring jobs.

Frequently asked questions

What should a cleaning invoice include?+

Your business and the client, the service address, the service type and frequency, any add-ons as separate lines, the subtotal, tax if applicable, the total due and short payment terms.

How do I invoice for recurring cleaning?+

Note the frequency (e.g. weekly) on the line, and consider a recurring invoice so each visit bills automatically. Keep add-ons on separate lines so each visit's extras are clear.

Should a cleaning invoice include supplies?+

If you charge for supplies separately from the service rate, list them as their own line. If supplies are included in your rate, note that so clients don't expect an extra charge.
