How to fill in each field

Student & subject

Name the student and subject per session so parents can follow the work.

Common mistake: Billing 'tutoring' with no session detail, prompting questions.

Session dates & hours

List each session's date and duration; use consistent rounding.

Common mistake: A monthly lump with no dates, hard for parents to verify.

Rate

Show your hourly rate; note if exam prep or subjects differ in price.

Common mistake: Mixing rates without labeling which session was charged what.

Prepaid credit

Deduct any prepaid package/credit before the balance due.

Common mistake: Not tracking prepaid blocks and double-charging.

Frequently asked questions

What should a tutoring invoice include?+

Your details and the parent/student, an invoice number and period, each session's date, subject, hours and rate, any prepaid credit, and the balance due with payment terms.

How do I invoice for tutoring?+

List each session by date and subject with hours × your rate, subtract any prepaid package, and use short terms (Net 7) since these are usually small, recurring amounts.

Should tutors ask for prepayment?+

Prepaid session blocks are common and reduce chasing. Track the credit on the invoice and deduct used sessions so the balance is always clear.
